This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs the use of telecommunications services provided by Tek-1 Telecom Inc.
1. Prohibited Activities
Customers may not use Tek-1 Telecom services to engage in activities that violate applicable laws, regulations, or the integrity of the network. Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting illegal activities
- Harassing, threatening, or defrauding others
- Distributing malicious software or harmful code
- Interfering with network operations or service performance
- Circumventing security mechanisms or access controls
- Conducting denial-of-service (DoS) attacks
- Transmitting unlawful, harmful, or abusive content
2. Telecom Compliance
Customers are responsible for complying with all applicable telecommunications laws and regulations, including those administered by the Canadian Radiotelevision and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).
This includes compliance with regulations related to:
- Telemarketing practices
- Caller identification requirements
- Spam and unsolicited communications
3. Toll Fraud
Customers are responsible for maintaining the security of their systems, accounts, and telecommunications infrastructure. This includes securing:
- SIP credentials
- Voicemail PINs
- PBX administrative accounts
- Network infrastructure and connected systems
Any unauthorized usage, including fraudulent activity resulting from compromised credentials or systems, may result in financial liability for the customer.
4. Bulk Communications
Customers sending large volumes of calls, SMS messages, or other communications must comply with all applicable consent and communication laws.
Customers must ensure the following requirements are met:
- Obtaining proper consent before communications are sent
- Providing accurate sender identification information
- Including clear unsubscribe or opt-out mechanisms where required
5. Network Integrity
To maintain reliable and secure telecommunications services, customers may not:
- Generate excessive call traffic intended to disrupt services
- Attempt to bypass fraud detection or security protections
- Operate unauthorized call termination or routing systems
6. Enforcement
Tek-1 Telecom reserves the right to take appropriate action in response to violations of this Acceptable Use Policy.
Such actions may include:
- Suspending services
- Restricting network access
- Investigating suspected misuse or unlawful activity
These actions may be taken without prior notice where necessary to protect network integrity, comply with legal obligations, or prevent harm to Tek-1 Telecom systems and customers.
